Regenerative teeth whitening – PrevDent
PrevDent is a system for teeth whitening and enamel repair. A combination of an active whitening substance – 6% hydrogen peroxide (6% H₂O₂) – with nano-hydroxyapatite, which remineralises the enamel and significantly reduces sensitivity. The PrevDent whitening procedure is safe. During the use of this procedure the tooth enamel is not destroyed. The teeth become not only brighter but also healthier.
How much can the teeth be whitened with the PrevDent preparation?
The distinguishing features of the system are:
- whitening of the teeth by several shades during a single visit,
- a special lamp supporting the whitening,
- elimination of sensitivity during the procedure,
- remineralisation of the enamel.
Studies show that using the PrevDent method we can achieve a white that is 7.8 shades brighter than the current state. This result will also depend on the current colour and the patient's own conditions.
How long will the teeth stay white after the PrevDent procedure?
The effect of the teeth whitening procedure using the PrevDent system can last from 2 to 3 years. Of course, the result will also depend on the individual conditions of the patient and their eating habits.
What about whitening root-canal-treated teeth?
In some cases after root canal treatment, as a result of insufficient preparation of the tooth chamber, haemolysis of the blood left in its recesses may occur. The consequence of this is the darkening or bluing of the tooth, which very seriously disturbs the aesthetics of the smile. However, even an already dead tooth can still be whitened, and such a procedure can also be carried out at our centre in Katowice. To this end, our dentists again open the crown of such a discoloured tooth, prepare it anew and introduce into it a special preparation for whitening dead teeth. After several replacements of such a whitening insert and achieving the desired effect, the tooth chamber is usually closed again with a composite filling.
What after the PrevDent whitening treatment?
For at least 24 hours after teeth whitening it is recommended to avoid eating and drinking anything containing any dyes (cola, coffee, tea, red meat, tomatoes, soy sauce, etc.). This also applies to fruit, with the exception of bananas. During this time one should keep to a so-called "white diet".
The PrevDent whitening procedure
The PrevDent procedure consists of 3 stages:
- Stain removal – the use of "Stain Removal" removes stains deeply embedded in the teeth. PrevDent "Stain Removal" is an advanced combination of surfactants, detergents, solvents and active oxygen that penetrates deep into the teeth to break down and remove stains.
- Whitening – as a result of mixing two components we obtain a foam of active oxygen with nano-hydroxyapatite, which is thereby able to enter the structure of the enamel. The whitening of the teeth and their re-mineralisation take place.
- Enamel repair – the use of PrevDent "Serum" delivers a concentrated amount of nano-hydroxyapatite to the enamel. The preparation remineralises and repairs the surface of the tooth, leaving the patient with a healthy and white smile.
What is nHAp in the PrevDent preparation?
Hydroxyapatite is a mineral that constitutes 68% of dentine and 97% of tooth enamel. Nano-hydroxyapatite is a much smaller version of this material and has the ability to bond with the hydroxyapatite present in the teeth. Penetrating deep into the dentinal tubules, nHAp eliminates sensitivity, with simultaneous remineralisation and rebuilding of damaged enamel. It makes the teeth brighter and their surface more smooth and shiny. And that is not all!
