Dentures

When you lose your own teeth and the original bite is extensively damaged or distorted, the only solution turns out to be dental prosthetics – more precisely, restorations intended to replace or rebuild the original chewing arrangement. Unlike implants, they do not become part of a living organism, but they effectively make up for missing teeth, making it possible to restore efficient chewing of food and reducing the ailments that characterise incomplete dentition. Restoring a lost smile with prosthetic fillings is not only nothing to be ashamed of today but, on the contrary, has become a common practice even among actors and journalists, because modern dentures have undergone a long evolution and are characterised by an exceptionally natural aesthetic, often completely changing the expression of the face and making it look several years younger.

Depending on the needs of our patient and the problem affecting them, our dental practice on the Witosa estate in Katowice offers a range of options for restoring a lost smile using the methods that prosthetics has brought to dentistry. We make both fixed and removable restorations, also under National Health Fund (NFZ) reimbursement.

Fixed prosthetic restorations

Examples of the most popular fixed prosthetic restorations are crown restorations, popularly called crowns. The task of crown restorations is to rebuild the diseased or missing crown part of a single tooth in a case where the tooth is very extensively damaged and cannot be rebuilt using classic dental fillings. In such cases, crowns made of porcelain or composite are used.

NL Clinic offers: porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, all-ceramic and zirconia crowns, as well as temporary crowns.

Another solution that dental prosthetics offers is fixing a restoration permanently onto a ground-down tooth by means of a bridge. Unlike crowns, bridges can make up for the loss of even several teeth, and the role of the abutments is simply performed by the patient's healthy teeth. Nowadays bridges are also made whose abutments are implants, although this solution is among the much more expensive ones than, for example, a porcelain-fused-to-metal bridge.

Yet another type of fixed restoration is the post-and-core, used in the case of root-canal-treated teeth. It is a type of restoration set in the tooth canal. In our practice's offer we have standard and individual post-and-core restorations.

Currently, veneers enjoy extraordinary interest, as they are able to completely and in a very short time change the colour and shape of a tooth. Veneers are a type of fixed restoration of the tooth face, favoured especially by people who for various reasons cannot or do not want to opt for orthodontic treatment, or for whom a beautiful smile is an important aspect of their work and who wish to radically improve its aesthetics. These very thin porcelain, ceramic or composite overlays are fixed to the outer, i.e. labial, surface of the tooth. Our practice offers porcelain and zirconia veneers.

Removable restorations

When the gaps in the dentition are so extensive that they cannot be made up for with a bridge or crown, prosthetics offers framework restorations, i.e. those set on a metal framework containing various kinds of bolts, clasps or spurs. The advantage of framework solutions over settling ones is the fact that, with the latter, the chewing forces are transferred onto the mucous membrane instead of onto the teeth and the periodontium. This can result in negative consequences, e.g. overloading of the bone and settling of the restorations.

NL Clinic has an exceptionally wide range of dental restorations. Among them are, for instance, the framework model, the acetal model, the acrylic 1–4-tooth model, the acrylic 5–14-tooth model, or the immediate one with relining of the restoration after the healing period.

In addition, we also offer extra elements in acrylic restorations, IVOCLAR teeth, as well as the repair of fractures or cracks in a denture and the addition of a tooth or clasp.
